The 3 most dangerous roads in Louisiana: Do you agree?

Louisiana has plenty of excellent roadways and routes that are easy to use, but not all of the roads throughout the state are safe. There are several roadways known as some of the worst in the country let alone the state.

Interstate 10, US 90 and US 190 all make the list for some of the worse roads in the country and in Louisiana itself. If you’ve taken these roads before, you may be familiar with the high risk of coming across an intoxicated driver or seeing car crashes at night.

Interstate 10

Interstate 10 ranks the 9th most dangerous road in the nation for alcohol-related collisions. A total of 31% of the crashes that happen on that road involve alcohol, according to one report. I-10 saw around 66 alcohol-related crashes with fatalities between 2015 and 2019.

US 90

US 90 is also dangerous for those in Louisiana. It has been shown to be the fifth-most dangerous route to take with the highest percentage of crashes in the dark. 64% of crashes on this route happen in the dark, which is something to keep in mind if you need to take it after nightfall. Other statistics show that US-90 had 50 total fatal crashes between 2015 and 2017, many of which involved intoxicated drivers.

US-190

US-190 is another dangerous roadway in Louisiana. It connects Louisiana and Texas and has segments that are now known as Interstate 14. There, 54 people died in crashes between 2015 and 2017.

Looking at all of these pieces of information, one thing stands out. The majority of crashes seen often involve night driving or impaired drivers, both of which make it much more dangerous to be on the roads.

If you want to be safer, it may be best to avoid these hazardous routes. If you can’t, remember to stay focused on the road and to be prepared to take evasive measures if another driver makes a mistake on the road.

As for these routes, would you take them willingly? Do you agree that these are the most dangerous roads in the state? Let us know in your response.
